That score is fine. I get just above 15k on g92 8800gts, but since the q6600 inflated the cpu portion of the score, 12.5k looks good.

My CPU is pathetic during the CPU test... I get like 0-3 FPS. Is that normal?

Also, how do u get signatures to work on this forum? i dont get it

That's fine, and especially good for a dual core. Even my q6600 barely hits 4fps. The cpu portion of 3dmark is supposed to be that heavy.

Yep, that sounds about right. Remember, CPU's are horrible at rendering graphics. They are just not designed for it. And I get 10k on my 8800GTS320, oced a little though.

It's not so much about the graphics. Every little robot on that 3dmark06's cpu test is controled by an AI.

Interesting, I did not know that. But 3dmark06 should not incorporate the cpu score into the total score because more cores in 3dmark=a higher score, and we all know what the difference is in real world tests.

Edit: My fingers are faster than my brain. I forgot I changed the resolution in 3Dmark from 1280x1024 to 1024x768 :(

I just configured Rivatuner fan control to make the GPU run at a contant 66-68 under load, could that make it more efficient? I ran 3dmark06 again and managed to get:

3dmarks: 13709
SM2.0: 6350
SM3.0: 6806

:)

^ they tried to fix that in vantage

anyway it seems kind of low... a g92 gts is better then my g80 gts 640... and I get 12100 with a e6420 @ 3 ghz... so he should be getting higher... cause its a better cpu and a better gpu... but i guess it's normal

anyway I second the how to get signature to work i can't seem to do it either

Reply to thogrom

to display the signature you have to create it in "forum options" then check the box to display signatures.

Reply to godless

and i think that you have to check the box "display your signature" everytime you create a post

EDIT: yep, just follow what i mentioned. i just created the signature, and there it is.

Thats what I did, but no sig is showing

Test 2...

Edit: Oh.. You have to check Show Sig at the bottom of every post? Weird, but i got it to work

What resolution is the "standard" for posting 3dmark scores?

My score in the original first post is using my monitors max res @ 1280x1024. With a lower res, 1024x768, I scored at 13843 3dmarks (3dmark06).

All components are fresh out of the box, no tweaking or OC'ing of any sort.

3dmark is also very sensitive to bloat. ie: extra processes. when benchmarking, i usually only run 20, no explorer. boosts the score a ways.
*edit* i use 1280x1084 as well.
*edit again, im an idiot* 1024

What do you mean by you run "20?"

i think he means 20 processes, i only run 20 all of the time, 25 sometimes when my game requires it.

the default resolution most forums use for 3dmark is the one that is set in the demo since it cannot be changed.

edit

i believe in 06: 1280x1024
and 05 1024x768

@RyanS2000 Change your FSB to 1600, leave everything else at default and then run 3D '06 again. ;)

...and behold... BSOD. :na:

His motherboard does not allow for "casual oc" like that. 1600mhz fsb is high oc for p35 chipset board, you'll have to bump up chipset voltage to not crash. If it's x38/48 or p45, it should work though, as 1600mhz is native fsb on those.

Coming from someone who reckons the 680i kills RAM (which mine hasn't!) I for one will take no notice of anything you spout.

I suppose you've managed to run p35 stable at 1600mhz fsb without increasing chipset voltage? :p

And 680i does kill ram. Google it. :na:
