Toshiba satellite L355D - vista - not booting

toshiba satellite L355D - vista - downloaded a ton of windows updates in morning. PC working fine afterward. couple of hours later I was on an internet site and walked away for an hour. when I returned, screen was black like sleep mode. PC would not come back up no matter what I did. finally I held the I/O button until shutdown. PC will not boot up. the fan runs, but that is all. I have two identical satellite L355Ds and both have same problem. any suggestions?

1. - See if you can boot into safe mode -

a. - Windows restore prior to the updates. when the updates are again downloaded, choose selective update and install only one at a time.

b. Look in event viewer and device manager for errors which may point the way to resolution.

c. Add remove programs. Once there, you can turn on "show updates" and uninstall the updates for that date. Then, when the updates are again downloaded, choose selective update and install only one at a time.
