What kind of a system are you running now? What games are you playing and at what resolution?

Give us as much information as possible. I have an 8800GTS and it gets the job done, most games I choose not to play at 1920x1200 or if I do I turn most of the filters down.

^ why... my lesser 8800 gts 640 runs everygame I have except crysis at max with max AA and AF at 1920 by 1200... why would you turn filters down?

i'd wait for the new cards... it should drop prices further and te 4870/4850 are supposed to be relatively cheap and perform better at or better than the 9800 gtx so i'd wait

Considering that its only 2 weeks away, not waiting would be just plain dumb IMO. As stated above it should force a price drop on the current crop of cards, and the rumor mill says the ATi 48xx cards are suppose to be very impressive at an extremely reasonable price.

i know that, but in canada its probably going to be priced more(probably $400-500), will the performance gap be enough to satisfy the price?
BTW- i run q6600 4gb ddr2, currently w/ 7600GT- moniter res is 1440x900

^ thats not going to happen though there is always a price drop of the previous generation... because charging 300 $ for out dated hardware is crap... cause then say a 6800 gt would be like 300 $... and we know what a piece of crap that is compared to current hardware

For 1440x900, any of those card will do.

But I would also suggest you to wait for the new cards to come out, and maybe you should also consider HD4850 since it's also in that price range.

Yeah, I'd go with that. The HD 4850 supposedly performs between the 8800GT and the 8800GTS 512.
