Hi...i want to ask a Question...

I have a Computer with a MOBO that has only PCI and VGA slots for a Graphic card....and no option for using a PCI Express graphics card..

I want to know if there is some way...an adapter card, a controller card, etc..that can be installed into any PCI or VGA slot, and that will give me the option for use a PCI Express card...on this Computer s.

It will help if you have a web link, URL....Price...

Muchas Gracias.

first, by vga slot i'm assuming you mean agp. and the answer is no, there is no way of getting an adapter. no such thing. ur better of getting a new mobo maybe. if you post your computer specs, ,they maybe someone can make a suggestion as for the best course with your computer, like new hd 3850 agp graphics card or if it would be better to get a new system (at least mobo and ram)

Yes...my specs are:

the Motherboard micro atx p4m800-m7, with integrated video...with 32 MB of video RAM..
The system has 1 GB of memory DDR....
The MOBO from my PC supports LGA 775 socket, and has a Pentium 4 at 3 GHz, and can be Overclocked with up to 3.2 GHz...from BIOS....

I could get a new MOBO...and keep the 3 GHz CPU...

any suggestions..?? the top Price $$ for both MOBO and Graphics would be....$$ 100 Dls..
and the graphics has to have 500 MB RAM....

100 dollars is not a lot of money. you can't even get the hd 3850 agp for that amount of money. it costs 140 dollars. i guess your upgrade would have to be somthing lesser than the 3850. what card do you have now?

also upgrading the mobo means upgrading ram and graphics card. for a hundred dolllars this is virtually impossible.

which games do you play at which resolutions? hope ur not thinking of playing Crysis.

The objective is: replace the graphics card...because it only has 32 MB RAM...and it is internal card...on the MOBO...it gives me constant Freezes...sloww refreshes......so....replace the graphics..

the money i have...$$100 Dls
i could get a AGP card...with 500 MBRAM...for 108 dls...

but....what if i can get PCI Express...?? in a new MOBO....??with graphics...??

only the MOBO and the graphics.....because the PCI Express cards are cheaper than the AGPs......and faster......

I'm not even sure you'll get a decent 512MB graphics card in that price range. You may want to look at the HD 2600XT for about $100 you might be able to get 512MB GDDR3 in that range but it will probably be GDDR2 or 256MB GDDR3 in wich case you'll get better results with the 256MB GDDR3 over the 512MB GDDR2.

If you don't play video games then you have no use for anything more than a basic card with 128MB ram. You can spend less than $100.

OK...Question: is the XT series for PCI express, or for AGP slots...??

and...are you sure about the :
you might be able to get 512MB GDDR3 in that range but it will probably be GDDR2 or 256MB GDDR3 in wich case you'll get better results with the 256MB GDDR3 over the 512MB GDDR2.

because...it would be 256 MB against 512 MB...

here's a couple of low end cards that would be great for you. the 2600 one has hdmi adapter which you could connect to high def television.

tbh, your best option would be to get a new mobo that supports your cpu, which most socket 775 does, get a decent pci-e video card. When you have more cash, you can get a better cpu and you probably need new ram as ddr is no longer supported on lga 775 boards today. The budget of $100 for mobo and graphics with 512mb is unrealistic and is close to impossible. Sorry if that sounded harsh.
