Right now I'm using a 750W PC Power & Cooling Silencer PSU. Think there is any chance this could handle 2 GTX 280s? Maybe 2 GTX 260s? I'm planning on using EVGA's Step-up program to at least get one card, and I'm wondering if I'll be able to SLI in the future without changing my PSU.

Thanks. :D

There is no way to tell for absolute sure until the cards are on a bench

However, if you are running say 1 optical drive, 1 hard drive, 5 fans

Its probably cutting it close

I think it depends more on how many amps your 12V has - if there isn't enough amperage for 2 cards then it might run but it won't perform optimally and may be unstable under load

60 amps, so again maybe but it might be cutting it a bit close for 2 cards

I believe they recommended 550 watt power supply for 1 card which is fairly normal for a high end Nvidia card (9800 GX2 class) but Nvidia isn't that good about supplying numbers for SLI setups

edit: http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone_build_psu.html

here is nvidia's page for what they recommend for 2 9800 GX2 - I believe the GTX280 is in the same ballpark of a power requirement so you might be out of luck more ed: minimum out of that list that they recommend as "SLI certified" is 850watts for 2x 9800GX2
