OK, I got all my parts in:

Case: Antec Twelve Hundred
RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 DHX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 4-4-4-12
CPU: Q6600 G0
Heatsink: XIGMATEK HDT-S1283
MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L
Graphic Card: 8800GT 512 MB (G92)

OK....all the parts are right here sitting in a box...so, lets see...I have 2 issues...I haven't build a PC in 4 years...so I am wondering what is the BEST way to:

1) How should I apply "Arctic Silver 5" on my Q6600 & XIGMATEK HDT-S1283?
2) What would be the BEST way to OC the Q6600 to 3.2?

Check it out, put the artic only on either the cpu, or the cooler, not both or your going to have it coming out all over the place. 2nd push delete when you mobo posts, that will get you into bios. Then push ctrl+f1 and that will let you access all the overclocking features, set your videocard speed to 100, your voltages of your cpu to auto, and them kick up the fsb on the cpu, im currently runin at 9x333 i believe to get 3.2 anyhow youll see the gigahertz go up as you increase it, f 10 to save it restart and your now at 3.2 gigs with your quad. This is how i do it, works great, i have never had a stability issue with my system.

awesome! pretty...fast and simple directions...

just wondering..y wouldnt the video card already be set to 100?

and isnt 9x333 = 3.0, i think i need 356x9 = 3.2

Also, what does OCing my CPU have to do with my RAM? If i have PC 800...that means the max i can OC CPU FBS is 400 ...right? so...356 is fine..is that how it works?

The videocard may be set to auto, was with mine, so i was just having you make sure. Also its the fsb for the cpu that your modifying, and yeah i was probably off a tad on the exact speed, just givin ya a instance, i could have checked mine, but i would have to restart, i hate doing that. Your safely within limits for this oc, and it doesnt require messing with voltages, and then having you worry about v-droop and such. I go by the keep it simple stupid method myself, works beautifully.

agreed, you mess with voltages, your opening a whole nother can of worms, problems, blah. I just want a stable oc, with no fuss, that runs stabily and reliably.

You SHOULD in theory be able to hit 3.6Ghz on the Q6600 with stock voltage, but like everything you may or may no need to increase/decrease voltage. Remember each CPU even between the Q6600 each physical chip is different.
