New to OCing: E5200 help

I am building my first box and since I wanted maximum bang for buck and was on a very tight budget, I got the Intel Pentium E5200 Wolfdale 2.5GHz 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor. Supposedly this is very easy and safe to OC, so i wanted to try and get the performance potential out of this CPU rather than spend another $100. Could someone point me in the direction of a thread or guide on how to do this? The MOBO I ordered is the GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3L LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128372 ).

Thanks.

  1. Is this processor still considered the best "bang for the buck" for overclocking performance for a "Core 2 Duo" gaming machine? I know it was a few months ago.
  2. Not much has changed since, i say its still up there. In the UK e7300 costs twice as much, e8400 almost 3x as much as the e5200, so to me its still a no-brainer, especially on a tight budget. Thats a good guide to start with: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/page-240001_11_0.html When you stumble on bios differences than read other peoples posts regarding OC on this board, than ask questions if needed.

Have a look at this too: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/forum2.php?config=tomshardwareus.inc&cat=29&post=245679&page=1&p=1&sondage=0&owntopic=3&trash=&trash_post=&print=0&numreponse=0&quote_only=0&new=0&nojs=0#t1742852

    Good luck!
