I'm new here...
I have a system running windows 7.
On one hard drive there's a partition where Win7 is installed and the other partition is open for data.
On the other hard drive there's two partitions one with XP Pro and the other data.
I have tried to figure out why the HD with XP gets hot(to the threshold) while it is not being accessed by the OS.
I have done the required trouble shooting and it remains a mystery to me.
Any help would be appreciated.
To be a little more clearer; this is when Win7 on the other drive is the running OS and is not reading from the overheating drive.
Air circulation in the case is awesome, the WD drive that gets hot is pretty new, everything is clean(no dust)...antivirus returns clean results and so does antispyware.
I'm just stumped.

From within XP fix errors on it's own partition.
So do it for second part of WD.
But, sometimes are last sectors very bad, in that case cut capacity
for 15%.
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, there's not a speck of dust. The two drives have an empty bay in between them and a 80" fan blowing on them. There's the heatsink fan and also a 120" fan blowing out the back. Not to count the PSU fans.
What is strange is that the Seagate drive is at 26º while at rest and doesn't even reach 40º's on load. While the WD drive rests at 30º's and reaches 60º on load.
