Xp startup disables keyboard

Hello,
I am using a Linksys switch box to share the mouse, keyboard, and monitor on 2 computers. The problem is when I have the switchbox on the XP Station, the boot up disables the keyboard. I have to disconnect the main keyboard cable from the back of the switchbox to get it to unlock. Sooner or later the connection is going to wear out. Any suggestions?
