hi guys, can i safely overclock to 3ghz maybe 3.2ghz on the stock intel cooler? I read somewhere that if CPU aint pushing 3ghz it bottlenecks the system for gaming? Do i need to overclock to play games? i.e crysis, bioshock etc. I want to play them on pretty high detail.

The system below is only gonna be used for gaming and is currently being built by "DINOPC" so if i need any additions let me know and i can still change it. Note, they only offer the coolermaster V8 cpu cooler instead of the stock cooler. Wish they stocked this - Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB 32Mb Cache Hard Disk Drive SATAII 300MB/s <8.9ms 7200rpm - OEM instead of the crappy 500gb drive.

You should be fine with the stock setting if your using x58. You should be able to run Crysis fine at 1680x1050. I wouldn't try to go further with the GTX260. You may be able to go higher, I've never used a GTX model card I just know the benchmarks. I have to 4870 x2's running in Quadfire and I can run Crysis at 2560x1600 perfect.

You can overclock to 3.2GHz on stock cooler, assuming your ambient temps are fairly low. Mine ran around 58C fully loaded @ 3.2GHz with ambient of around 63F.
