I'm not a fan of ECS boards myself... I've seen far too many with blown / leaking capacitors.

I've had an ECS and in short it sufficed. Not a luxurious board by any stretch, but it was reliable (enough). It definitely helps that it uses an Intel chipset, and also helps that the CPU is a low fsb processor. Should be pretty stable with that combo.

I concur, they are reliable, but not equipped w/ many features, still for the price as long as u don't overclock you will be ok. Even w/ slight o/c u could get away w/ it, but nothing serious!

See that's the thing, I've had maybe 8-12 ecs boards, not one has died on me, friends, relatives, and customers a like, I don't know how to say it, except for maybe I just have good luck w/ mobo's.

I hear all these horror stories, but alas I've used them in too many builds to say that is the trend, I tend to think ppl mess something up themselves, or something b/c I am finding it harder to belieev now...

Many of the computers we sold from Mind Computer Products out of Winnipeg used ECS motherboards. Not all of them failed, but enough of them did for me to be wary of using their boards on any build in the future. All of the failed boards had faulty capacitors... it had nothing to do with people messing up anything. Problem is, the computer or motherboard would be off warranty before the board would fail... usually after 2 or 3 years.

ouch see that sucks, whenever I am building a system that is going to be stressed in any sort of way possible I usually go with a better board.

Too many office pc's, internet surfing/ word processing/ paint, kind of machines that ECS has some decent quality, but the price usually dictates that.
