I have been given 2 old pcs with windows 2000 on them. I want to initiallize the pc so its got nothing on apart from the wins 2000 or no operating systems if necessary. does anyone know of a way to wipe the harddrivers without the winds 2000 disk to prompt the pc from doing a new install.

Any help would be great.

ps is there any method of wiping harddrives from the bios so all you have on your pc is the bios set up

You'd still need the 2k CD to install it after you wipe the drive. Bios used to have low-level format. You don't need it anymore as Windows setup disk includes a partitioning tool.

you can also wipe it with pretty much and OS cd, xp/vista/the linux distros i have tried. Or just take the hdd out the system and hook it up as a slave to another machine and format it from there.

For a disk drive wipe, to make data recovery near impossible, DBan Nuke.
Gnu/Linux based and free.

You will need a Win2K disk to get the drives to a point where only Win2K is on them.

As people are selling a no longer supported os for $120, I would go and get the os from a torrent off pirate bay or some such place.
