File and Printer Sharing

Hi everyone,

To share files between two XP computers connected to a wireless router I activated the File and Printer Sharing thing. But this opens the door to trojan and viruses isnt'it ? Is there a way to share files locally with XP without affecting security as regards attacks from Internet ?

right click ion file, select share, check, share with a user, specify the user

Ok but does the activation of File and Printer Sharing, in on of itself, makes it easier for malware to get in, regardless of the way one actually shares his or her files after that ?
