Hi all,

Im building a new pc mainly for gaming and HD multimedia.

anyway ive got about £1000 to play with but i dont want to spend it all

Ive already bought a 9800gx2
i own an Antec P180

I havent purchased yet but have pretty much settled on a Q9450 which i want to OC to about 3 - 3.2ghz

My pickle... is the motherboard, i dont know a lot but im really struggling to know what to do as from what ive heard the 780i board is some what of a frankenstein board and the 790i doesnt support DDR3 which at the moment imo is not worth the money when i could get 8gb of 1066 ddr2 for the same price as 4gb of DDR3.

i want to be able to upgrade my cpu in the future which means FSB of 1600 and i want to in an ideal world have the option to upgrade to DDR3 when its mainstream and cheaper. I cant get either of these on a nvidia board but i can on an X38/X48 but this would mean i cant buy a 2nd GX2 in future and SLI them.

Does anybody know anything about whats coming in the not so distant future im talking end of this month?? And any help opinions would be brilliant

X38/X48 for the official FSB1600 support. nVidia's Intel chipsets are frankly not very good.

Buying a second video card in the future to SLI is a horrible idea, always will be. If you cannot buy both cards within 30-45 days, it is not worth it. That is not even getting into the fact that unless you are going 1920x1200+ SLI is useless anyway.
