I'm trying to figure out the best PSU for an E8400, running a GT 9600 - I'm not interested in OCing, just want a solid PSU to support the E8400, any suggestions of brands/ models?

Antec got a nice offer in it's Sonata III 500 where you get a nice silent case and a quality 80+ 500w powersupply for just $124.95 on Newegg(possibly cheaper at other places if you look around, however as a Dane I don't know of many US shops)

thanks everyone, yeah corsair are solid, they're also double the c ost of antec 430's, not sure which to get really, don;t want to sabotage the $ I'm spending on performance via cpu/ vid card because I was too cheap to get a decent psu - no idea how all this stuff works/ integrates, basically im after cheapest non-substandard brand that'll support the e8400/gt 9600 easily - and perferably quiet too

Get the Corsair VX450. Its the same PSU as the Antec Earthwatts 500 but has better capacitors. Though if you buy the Sonota III case that deal is hard to beat.

There are basically three sites for PSU reviews:

1. Hard OCP or H Enthusiast: http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/

2. Hardware Scerets: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/

3. JonnyGuru: http://www.jonnyguru.com/index.php

All three sites have tested both PSU and Buy.com usually has the best deals on Corsairs with a rebate. I purchased my VX550 for $58 and could have bought the VX450
for $50 at the time. Late January 2008.
