More about recommendation
  1. a good Antec EW 500w power supply should do it

Also I would recommend getting the 9600 GT instead, because it outperforms the 8800 GT 256mb, though of course the 8800 GT 512MB would outperform both.
  2. 8800gt 256 sucks balls, get 9600 or go the full hog and get a full 8800gt 512 oh, and the earthwatts powersupply is great
  3. To be on the safe side 500-550W is better

You are kidding about the 256Mb GT card right?? I would aim for the ATI 4850 if you can afford it or at least a 512Mb GT... Unless you plan to game on 1024x768!!

From other peoples experience Ballistix RAM will overclock better than OCZ sticks. My attempts to overclock good OCZ PC6400 RAM failed at only about 880Mhz (relaxed timings, overvolting, etc. with a similar Gigabyte board)

I am liking the Corsair PSU series... They are all v. well built.

    VX - cheaper, non-modular
    HX - more expensive, modular

You can get away with the 450 (VX) Watt model for your system (cheapest). Only if you would consider a more hefty card or CrossFire/SLI in the future would you need more. Most people would so it's worth going to at least 550Watts (min).

Here's a tiered list of PSUs for your reference (generally stick to Tiers 1-3):

  5. everything is good except video card change it to an 9600gso or at least 9600gt

450w power supply is more than enough
  6. Not the 9600 GSO, it is the exact same thing as an 8800 GS and will not nearly perform as well as the 9600 GT.
  7. thanks a lot ppl... and abt the 8800GT 256 Mb, i think its enuf for me.. i'll do with playing game at lower res....
  8. btw. i got the 8800GT at 70$ ...its dirt cheap
  9. ^ Then you did fine at that price (assuming before mail in rebate).
  10. no $70 after mail in rebate...come on man.. thats cheap too aint it ??
