I have the p45 chip set, a e7200(overclocking to 3.5-3.8) 2x2gb ram 1 hard drive + 5 case fans + 1 optical drive + a 4850 but if i want to expand to crossfire will the corsair 520 or 550 cut it or will i need at least 600?

*edit* The 520 corsair says that it is sli certified

Sapphire is recommending a minimum 550wts for a 4850 Crossfire machine. Since you are overclocking, you might do well to add at least another 100wts to that. So make it a minimum of 650wts to play it safe.

As for the 520wt being SLI certified, that just means it can handle SLI, but not specifying the power requirements of the cards. In other words, it has the wiring and might adequately power a 8800GT SLI, but not be able to handle cards that are more power hungry.
