E7400 overclock

Hi,

I have asus p5kpl-am motherboard and e7400 proc
arctic cooler
ddr 2 pc6400 memory corsair xms

whats the best way to overclock this cpu i dont want t take it to max overclock but somewhere midway would be good.

will the overclock affect other parts such as pci-e graphics or my memory modules as i wasnt sure if i should get 6400 or 8500
