I had a similar problem once with a game I had installed. I searched for the dll file on google and downloaded it from some site with tons of dll files, dropped it in the proper folder and it fixed it. Here you go!

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?d3d9

Hope that fixes it!

Oh you've got one of those errors. I got them while attempting to port DX10 to XP

Check to make sure you have the right version of the file. There are files for vista, files for XP and files for both 32-bit and 64-bit OSs.

Well I put vista dll's into my XP directory too, even replaced one. That meant I needed my Ubuntu LiveCD to put the old one back, coz I got a BSOD every time I tried to boot. I gave up then, after getting through about 5 of these types of errors while starting up Lost Planet DX10.
