Im building a gaming pc, and Im wondering what power(watts) psu will be enough. These are the specs:

CPU: Intel q6700
Ram: 4 GB 6400 SLI Ready
Video: BFG 8800 GTS 640 OC2 X 2 ('SLI'ed together)
Hardrive: 200 GB WD 7200rpm
Mobo: 680i SLI: T1

Right now I have a 500 Watt ultra PSU, I wonder if that will be enough.

I am also considering to OC the system.

Thank!

I don't think that PSU will be adequate. BFG website says that minimum 425 watt PSU with 28A on 12v rail is required for a single card. You would be safe with a 750 watt PSU I would say.

I agree with sciggy :D
Definitely a 750. Don't cheap out though....go a a well known name brand.
PC Power and Cooling, OCZ, Corsair, Silverstone all make very good PSU's.
I'm a fan of the TX750 Corsair, not only because it's a well rate PSU, w/ 60 amps on the 12V rail, but the cables are nicely sleeved, it has four individual PCI-E connectors, 2 six pin and 2 six+two pin, and I have a bottom mount in my case so I like the extra long cables that come with this unit.
Nice build. Hope it goes ultra smooth for you.

The TX750 is a good deal, but I noticed it only has one 12 V rail rather than multiple 12 V rails like in other PSUs. Is there a benefit to having one over the other?

To quote an excellent discussion by JonnyGURU:

Ok... What's the bottom line?

The bottom line is, for 99% of the folks out there single vs. multiple +12V rails is a NON ISSUE. It's something that has been hyped up by marketing folks on BOTH SIDES of the fence. Too often we see mis-prioritized requests for PSU advice: Asking "what single +12V rail PSU should I get" when the person isn't even running SLI! Unless you're running a plethora of Peltiers in your machine, it should be a non-issue assuming that the PSU has all of the connectors your machine requires and there are no need for "splitters" (see Example 1 in the previous bullet point).
