Asus P5q ( latest bios )
E6750 Core 2 duo 2.66ghz
2 gigs of ram.
40gig SSD hard drive.
XP service pack 3
Creative sound blaster XI-FI 5.1 ( drivers from instillation disk, newest drivers not compatible with xp :(  )

_______________

I can hear music loudly and clearly coming from my dj mixer (which is plugged into line-in), and the wave-form shows up, but neither Audacity, or Adobe Sound booth, can play back the audio after I've recorded it...

Its as if the wave form becomes empty and plays only a faint muffle...

I'm suspecting Windows XP is responsible for this.

any advice would be greatly appreciated this is very disheartening, I'm a DJ, and getting my mix tape recorded and distributed is what will help me land gigs and get jobs.

that's really old H/W, Sound Blaster says they discontinued support for it, I suspect the wrong drivers

Actually the card is... [ sound blaster x-fi xtreme audio ]

and yes, it is old... I may return it, my onboard audio is HD
but all audio cards are giving me problems right now.

this may lead me to update to windows 7.
