OS Question

Hi im about to start my first build when i5 comes out but i had one question.

I have vista 64 bit with a free windows 7 upgrade and i was wondering if when i install vista (can only install it one time oem version) it gets tied down to my hard drive or my motherboard? Someone told me motherboard but i always thought it was the hard drive.

Im asking because if i build another computer in the future can i use my hard drive in the next build and be able to use the OS already installed on it?

You can install Vista OEM as many times as you like, as long as you install it on the same system. My understanding is that it's tied to the motherboard, not the disk.

You may have to reactivate the OS if you change hardware.
OEM versions are supposed to be for one specific computer.
A retail version would allow you to change computers.
