I'm in the middle of building a new system. I have selected the Gigabyte GA-X48-DS4 motherboard. I want to buy 4GB of memory in 2 2GB sticks so that I can upgrade by buying 2 more 2GB sticks later (using Vista 64-Bit).

As I look over the motherboard "Memory Support List"
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/FileList/MemorySupport/motherboard_memory_ga-x48-ds4_1.3.pdf
I notice that my only 2GB stick options are DDR2 800 PC2 6400. Obviously I would rather buy 1066 - 1200 speed memory.

My question is: Do I have to select memory from Gigabyte's support list? Or can I use something like:

OCZ Flex II 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1150 (PC2 9200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

btutor motherboard should support the OCZ Flex II 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1150 (PC2 9200) I have never gone by the QVL list,I go by the voltage of motherboard and the ram.QVL mean that is the ram they were able to test with that motherboard, they can't test every ram out there.what ever ram you use just make sure your motherboard support that ram voltage of ram, and yours should support the ocz.
