i have an ati hd 3450, which is a 512mb graphic card. i checked dxdiag, and it shows the approx. total memory as 1024.0mb.

my computer used to freeze randomly, but after another reformat, it's been more stable.

i don't know if like.. the computer's set to go really hard on the graphic card (overclocking?) or something.

1024mb? Looks like it's counting in shared memory from main system ram. That's normal. The PC will tab in the extra 0.5gb reserve if the card ever runs out of onboard ram.
