I want to make a cd for a client, but I do not want them to be able to make copies of the files. How do I protect my design files?

There really isn't any way to do this. You could encrypt the files, but then the client wouldn't be able to access them.

What is it you want them to be able to see? If, for example, you're showing them architectural drawings from something like AutoCAD but don't want to give them the actual design files, perhaps it's good enough to convert selected views to JPEG images and let them see just those...?

You want some sort of DRM with your files. Trouble is even the free DRM are made only for software installers, audio cd's or video discs. Also most DRM already have workarounds on the net, so if the client really wanted your file badly it would be copied one way or the other.

Screenshots would be one way of preventing copying of the actual file itself or you could just present it to the client face to face.
