Your honest opinion has a big impact on me and I’m in need of it.

I currently have my system on an EVGA 780i board. I like it a lot. Have not had one problem with it. Everything works.

However, I’m going to build a second system this next month…Grad Present for my BRO – come one, gotta give the best to your bro, right?

What MOBO should I get him? I want a good overclocking Intel motherboard. I never really put a price limit on my motherboard. So all boards can enter the contest. I’m not bias to Nvidia, though I’ve never bought anything besides Nvidia. Intel chipsets are very tempting these days.

If possible, let me know why this motherboard is the best or why you chose it. I appreciate it.

Side Note: Any boards coming out for Nehalem? How soon?

Look at Gigabyte or ASUS X48 boards. I assume you will be doing 4850s or 4870s in CrossFire so the below boards should be fine:

Gigabyte X48-DS4 $225

ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA $290

Nehalem won't be out until at least September.

Note that, like all Intel launches prices are going to be quite high and won't come down till January/February of 2009.

Splendid
I've used the ASUS X48 Rampage Formula for the past few months and have nothing but praise for it. It was expensive, but its been the best board I've ever owned, Intel based or Nvidia based. If you want to go for DDR3, the ASUS X48 Maximus is equal to the Rampage Formula.

I wouldn't look for any decent Nehalem boards for at least 6 months, maybe longer. Its going to take a while to develop that platform.

why don't you just give him your system and you wait and get you a Nehalem system since if you get him an X48 or even a 790i, they will BOTH be obsolete from a socket standpoint when Nehalem comes out??? This way only one of you is behind the curb and I don't think your bro would mind what you have.

^Good, but possibly unnecessary. There's nothing wrong with the two boards Shadow linked in the 2nd post.

And wtf is up with that $439.99 790i board!? Steer clear of that.
