HD2900XT or HD3870 ??? Help

Hi there i am trying to choose between what graphics card's to get

my specs at the moment :

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+
MSI K9A Platinum
2GB Corsair XMS2 PC6400
2X HD2600XT GDDR4 in crossfire
Thermaltake tough power 750w

I am looking at upgrading and not sure to get 2 HD2900XT's or 2 HD3870 's
also will my mainboard support HD3870 's in crossfire ?

Hello and welcome to the forums mate

Well first of all do u really need CF? read the FAQ:

If u need, then i choose 2 HD 3870s instead of 2 HD 2900XTs and yes your motherboard supports 2 HD 3870s in CF mode

Just wait for the 4870 in a little more than a week - on it's own is faster then 2 x 3870 in CF

The first part of advice I will give you is in response to your question. Get the 3870, its nothing more than an updated 2900XT. And yes, your mobo should support 3870 crossfire.

Second, here's what I think you should actually do. AMD and nvidia are launching new cards in a week or so, its going to cause big price cuts all over the place. I actually will recommend getting a 4870 over the crossfire 3870s, it is supposed to be faster and about the same price as both. Up to you, but patience pays off.

Well it maybe faster but they aren't out yet and no knows how EXACTLY they will perform
you have to wait for trusted reviews like tomshardware,xbitlabs,hothardware,anandtech.........
