I've got a quick question:
Is this motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813135063

capable of putting 2 SATA drives in RAID 1? If so, how would one do so?

If not, can anyone recommend a micro-ATX CHEAP motherboard that can? (Must be capable of 800Mhz FSB, I am using an old Celeron LGA775 to make a NAS, and onboard graphics is a must.)

this is a good one
to set up raid you need 2 sata drives with the same make and model and you enable it in the bios. when you buy your motherboard your manual will explain how to do it

thats a good board, but its not compatible with my 800Mhz FSB celeron. But I am now thinking about switching to AMD, simply because of price. I don't need extreme performance, so I think it will suit my needs. This is what I am thinking: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813131172

I can assume from the parts you chose that you're on a really tight budget, but I'd really recommend getting a dual core over a single core. Even if you don't need it now it will certainly help your system last a lot longer. I'd consider: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819103062 which is both dual core and higher clockspeed than the part you chose for not *that* much more money. You'll also need to get some DDR2 if you don't already have some. 2GB is probably as much as you'll need and can be had for insanely cheap these days. An example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820161172.

Best of luck

Is dual core really nessessary for a NAS/Home Server?

ECS and reliability are like oil and water. If you're looking for RAID 1 reliability, it's silly to buy a low-quality MB like an ECS.
What you need is a MB from a decent-quality maker that uses an Intel chipset. Even the older 9x5-chipset-based MBs will not be dirt cheap if you get a u-atx with the -R version Intel south bridge that supports RAID. Thus, the cheapest way to go for a decent setup is to buy a non-RAID Intel chipset u-ATX board from a decent manufacturer, then add in a cheap SATA PCI card that supports RAID 1.

I have actually decided to go with AMD.
This is what I am thinking: http://secure.newegg.com/Shopping/ [...] 106038%7c1

I do not know whether it is RAID1 capable, but if not, I will be sure to get a RAID card. I just need to know if it will fit in my case.

Do you think I should go with the dual core instead for a NAS?

Hmm... I don't think you'll need a dual core for a NAS, sorry I missed that in the first post.
