Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R: Major Problems

I drove down from N.C. to Florida this past week and I've run into some major, major problems with my PC. When I unpacked my PC and plugged it in, all it did was boot to my Gigabyte POST screen and stayed there and did nothing. Never made it to the Vista login screen. After checking all my connections which seemed fine, I finally switched the SATA port that I connected my HDD and that allowed me to get to Vista.

When booting into Vista however has revealed another problem. It used to take just a few moments after entering my password to load all background programs (which is just Kaspersky I.S.) and now it seems all fine and dandy, but when I click on the start button for example, it does not respond. When "Ctrl-Alt-Deleting" it takes me to that menu with a few different options but freezes up there and then 5 minutes later it automically goes back to the desktop and is ready to rock and roll. ....Then last night I loaded up Team Fortress 2 and when I usually hover around 80 fps and I was averaging 15fps.

On another forum, a gentlmen suggested that I disconnect everything component by component and then reconnect them to see if I locate a hardware problem that may have been caused by the move. I disconnected everything except my HDD and tried to boot just by it, but then all it did was my inital problem of just booting to the Gigabyte POST screen. I disconnected everything, and cleared my CMOS and then tried to boot up again. This time I was presented with a sound that I've never ever heard a PC make before. Mind you my PC case speaker that you connect to the motherboard has been removed yet when I powered on the computer it made an extremely high pitch "squeal" that seemed to originate from the video card area.

If anybody can help me, I would so much appreciate it. I'm having to use my fiance's POS pc that takes like 30mins to boot up in the mean time and I desperately need my PC.

My specs are obviously the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R rev. 1, Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, Corsair 2 gigs of 1066mhz, 500gig HDD, EVGA 8800GTS 640meg.

::Update::
After a good nights rest I got up this morning and tried everything over again. I basically took the entire PC apart, piece by piece. After only reconnecting my HDD, CPU, and video card to my motherboard, it worked! The PC booted past the Post screen and I was able to login into windows. I haven't put everything back together yet (DVD-RW's) or tried to see if TF2 will run smoother, but I'm pleased at the moment I was at least able to make it into Vista.

I'll keep this thread updated until I can say everything is resolved.

Had the exact same problem with the same motherboard, but using the 8800 GT video card. The video card was screaming. Found out that it needed the extra 12v power cable (plug into the end of the card). This resolved the high pitch scream that drove my dogs crazy.

^The problem is the chipset. The P35C has problems. Stick with a good DDR2 motherboard with P35/P45/X38/X48.
