Well all the games ported to pc are upscaled with Higher resolution textures. The PS3 is equivalent to 2 6600 GTs or 2 7800 GTXs I can't remember, definately not more lol.

I mean look at Grid, the PC version has improved graphics because the PC can handle it:)

Just remember the PS3 DOES run everything @ 19x12 rez.
Most people are only running 12x10 or 16x12.
So before u compare visuals just remember that.

Try running Crysis (for example) at 19x12 and see how much you have to turn the detail down to get ~30-60fps, THEN compare results.

I hope the PC still comes out tops, cos i dont really like comsoles TBO.

yes they run at 1080p but remember PS3 can't do AA, and textures are more compressed than PC.

Every1 know that PC visuals are better than Console.

Gears of War, Bioshock Grid, all loook better on PC.

GTA 4 doesn't even run at 1080p it runs at 720p, and personally I don't even think the graphics deserve a 10, 9.5 at most.

MGS 4 is the best looking game to date on a console. Running at full 1080p:)

As far as i know, many ps3 games doesn't run at 19x12. Like doesn't GTA4 runs at 630p on the ps3?

show him crysis maxed, he will piss himself. the ps3's GPU is like a Geforce 7800-7900 card with slight modifications (including a crippled memory interface)

pc with a 9800gx2 vs ps3. which is better graphically in games? umm the ps3 couldn't come close in performance its really a stupid question.

If you really want to compare them:
Take a 1080p lcd tv make sure its a good size one and hook up some games to it to find out. when you see cod4 on the pc and compare it to the ps3 version you see what I mean. Not saying it looks bad on the ps3 but man that game looks good on the pc.

But just to let you know don't try it with old titles its not a fair comparison.

That's the DUMBEST thread I have seen.. this month...

ofcourse 9800gx2 is way better :|

just buy an bigger screen and show it too him...
some real HD resolution gaming...
console games can't much PC games in any aspect
whatsoever when it comes to graphic..

PC with such gfx with decent cpu and ram smokes
all the consoles combined...

that's why high end pc cost MORE...

To the best of my knowledge the Catalyst behind the PS3 is basically two 7950GT or 7800GT chips. I remember on G4TV that they were saying that even though the PS3 was expenisve it was really a bargain because it would cost you $250 a piece to get the same two Nvidia graphic chips that are in the PS3.

I think a big advantage your 9800GTX would have is color quality. The color quality of the 7 series really was not very good. Especially compared to ATI's 1k and Nvidia's 8 series. And the 7 series generation chip is what is in the PS3.

Plus as mentioned before console games really don't take advantage of Anti Aliasing.

However the #1 advantage your PC has over a PS3 is that when a better video card comes out you can upgrade instantly. However your friend is probably going to be stuck with the same PS3 for the next 6 to 8 years until the PS4 comes out.

And PLUS if his PS3 is out of warranty and over heats how is he going to fix it? He is going to have to buy a whole new unit. If your PC breaks, just replace the broken component and you are back up and running again.

That's incorrect; most PS3 and Xbox360 games run at 720p or lower, and the PS3 GPU does support antialiasing, although developers may often disable it to improve performance. MGS4 does not run at 1080p either, and I'm wondering where you get your information from.

This whole thread is full of stupid. Of course the 9800GX2 is faster, but it's also more expensive than the entire PS3 system.

PS3 doesn't have AA because it has a blurr effect, this info is from Gametrailers.com

PS3 creates a blurr where you can't notice it, thats why screen shots look awful but ingame action look good.

Oh and for the MGS 4 I misread the box, your right it is 720p, apparently Hideo doesn't like HD all the much from his comments.

Thread will be closed in 1 hr.

Console threads are pointless here because the tech specs are known, yet people still get them wrong as if it's a mystery.

The RSX is essentially a 90nm GF7800GT (similar to 7900GT) with half the ROPs & memory bandwidth.

As outdated as it is this may help people with the hardware understanding of the RSX (and to a lesser extent Xenos);
http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2453&p=9

for Xenos Wavey Dave's article at B3D is the last word IMO;
http://www.beyond3d.com/content/articles/4/

Pretty much since the introduction of the GF8 and then HD2K there is no console hardware that matches up. The only advantage any of them have is the option for some tile based rendering on the Xenos on the X360 and even that won't help it render Crysis @ 1080P.

Pretty sure, as someone else stated, that the majority of PS3 games are not rendered at 1080p.

Also, test each with a HD tv, preferably 1080p with a game that is made for both systems.

He does have a pretty sweet blu-ray player though :)

Now open word an type a paper. Then get on the internet and send an e-mail. Do download some music. And Put in a Terabyte drive. Tell him to do the same with a ps3.
