I thought it was gonna be 349-399? Also, did ATI change release date to June 24? I saw that somewhere but did not know if it was true or not.

Disgracefully overpriced...
The GTX 260 for $450! What is nVidia playing at? That crad will probably JUST outperform a 9800GTX which can be had for almost half the price of that now- with prices set to tumble further. nVidia have really blown it this time... :(

Whats with the low shader clocks??? 192*1242=238464

Then look at the 9800gtx : 128 * 1625 = 208000

thats not much of an increase in shader power...especially when you consider that you can get OCed 9800s that are running at 1800mhz upwards.

The stream processors in GT200 are supposedly ~50% faster per clock than the ones in G80/G92. Maybe they found the mythical missing MUL :p

Hmm, well if they are 50% faster, why isn't it pantsing the 9800GX2?

$450 is a rip off, especially when the scores suggest the HD4000 series won't be that far behind.

I'm going with ATI this cycle. It is about time they made a decent card so I am going to reward them with my $.

And wait till you see the prices on the new ATI cards. If you believe these are going to be as cheap as most people are thinking, you are in for a rude awakening I think.

Yea...I am not a fan of dual GPU solutions, but I want the fastest 'single card' that I can get and a 9800GX2 may be the solution for me, but the problem arises when you ask these quesitons. How much will driver improvements help these new cards (especially with the physics processing capabilty) and with it have a longer life span of high performance with the new arch and wider bus? Questionable at best, but still curious.

same here i really dislike dual gpu i bought a ati 3850 cf them and no increase in games wat so ever maybe 4or5 fps in like 1 game and just recently i bought a 9800gx2 and i got horrible performance the dvi port was broken at the blue led in the end wasnt lit so i found out the card was damaged bad luck i guess.
anyway the gtx 280 only seems to hold a ground only when with higher resolutions. since i only play with 1680x1050 theres no point in getting it. i only would recommend if u play at very high res and enable all the eye candy (such as aa). and as for the drivers im sure the card will get better but how much can it improve with drivers 10%-15% still doesnt justify the price. i think im gonna get a 9800gx2 there cheap on newegg there like 450$.

Because u bought a ATI. iv been reading ATI really doesnt get taken advantaged then the geforce cards. but playing UT3 with ATI will beat the GeForce.
