I built a new system a few days ago. I just downloaded CPU-Z and it shows my e7200 running at 1600Mhz?

It shows the multiplier set at 6x even after setting it to 9.5x in bios.

Is it OK?

Your CPU is going into power saving mode.

You'll see that the 9.5 multiplier goes down to 6 and the Vcore should also drop. If you put load on the computer (like extracting a big rar or encoding a dvd) you should see it jump up to 9.5 multiplier and 2.57ghz

CPU speed is proportional to the user's Intellect. And yours has a very high gain.

No need to abuse the OP because it's easy to overlook the stickies when using the forum for the first time.

If mine came off as abuse or mean I am sorry. You just have to remember that we seriously get at least one of these a day. I understand why you ask the question, I almost asked it myself when I got my Q6600 but was lucky enough to remember that Speedstep did what it did.
