It sounds like the 4XXX series is going to pack a hell of a lot more WIN than anyone expected them to.

Dang, so $400 with ATi will get you more performance than spending ~ $1300 with nVidia. Let's hope that this 3dmark 06 score can translate well to gaming. If ti does, than I think we all know who's gonna win this round of GPU releases.

So much hype, and so close to launch. Its about time to say it:

Why is this topic going by so unnoticed?

Reply to quantum112

Well I don't care about Nvidia or ATi. I want the best bang for the buck and currently or hopefully, that will be the single ATi4850.

3Dmark06 is a synthetic benchmark, it doesn't reflect real gaming.

My advice don't take someone's article as proof. It didnt' show test setup, screen shots or comparison methods.

Wow !!!

Also notable is how much power the 280s need. Looks like ATi might gain some market real soon.

Maybe that will translate in better AMD procs down the road if they dig themselves out of the hole they are in with their new GPUs

let's say!

go amd gogo!

if that new 4800 dream will be a miracle, i'll buy it in my new rigg!

The 4870 is what I'm waiting for to build a new PC :)

Reply to quantum112

Probably because people know the difference between 3dmark scores and actual performance. The 3870x2 has the best score by quite a bit but, in most games, will have it's @zz handed to it by the 9800GX2 which scores lwoer on 3dmark, but it is promising from ATI.

So it looks like this 18K + 3dmarks06 might be real for the 4870

It says there it has 480 shaders, wtf?
Also, 86 gb fillrate, shouldn't it have more?

if you take time to think about it there must be something else going on, ati's low end cant beat nvidia's high end can it?

Reply to rangers

If anything, ATI has brought those bungholio marks closer to gaming performance this time around. ATI had all the pieces, the ability, but couldnt push out that performance, til now. Theyve balanced their cards, and still retain the lead in those bungholios too

well one benchmark is hardly relevant, considering ATI arch. has always scored higher in this synthetic. BTW, my two 8800GTX's also score over 18000, so whats the point??

2900XT can score over 20,000, means you don't get it either.

dont worry nvidia will end up degrading image quality again so they can say they get higher fps in such in such a game thats how they all-ways beat ati in games,
and yes I'm an ati slut i blame nvidia

Reply to rangers

Since all ATI had to do was clean up there filtering problems, if they did, its a done deal, especially at those prices. With no AA/AF, the old 3 series traded blows very well with nVidia cards, even the top end, so keep this in mind when we see the benchies from the 4xxx series

this is not accurate.since both card is DX10 they should test it in 3Dmark Vantage. as we have seen many review today for the GTX 280 on vantage. the gap between the 9800GX2 and the GTX 280 is wider then ever.

as we know vantage brings any hardware to the ground. look for yourself.

apparantly the new CSAA give so much better IQ and less FPS hit when enable.

i think this is much better test.16AA/AF for all game. but even though they made mistake on the chart for 3way SLI. they put the bar for 9800GTX and GTX 260. the mean GTX 280 + 260.

Because the posts are on FUD. This is the same site that claimed $499 for the gtx 280 at release, along with countless other random and blatantly false news posts.

fudzilla is like vr-zone. all is fairytale story never was true.LOL

but reviews we can decide from other review sites.

Reply to iluvgillgill

Tho he may have said 499 on release, it wouldnt surprise me to see some "discounts" when the 4 series is released
