So which one sounds like a better price GX2, 260 or 280?

Just want to get some opinions.

For me I think it would be the GX2 for now out of the 3;)

  1. ATi 4870.
  2. well there are 3 of them, and the Ati 4870 isn't out yet, and it's performanec doesn't match of the cards above....sooo yeah lol
  3. Likewise for drivers for the GX2, and remember the GX2 is a 3 month old card lol.

Just like the 8800 Ultras are 2 year old cards and still hold their own!
  4. 1.75 lol "8 November 2006"
  5. I actually considering just getting a 9800GX2 at this point, along with a 24 in LCD with the bit of extra cash I save. Only concerns I have is that the 9800GX2 supposedly still has issues with dual monitors, is this true?

I'm willing to shell out the $650 for the GTX280, but I'm not sure it would be worth it. However, I am open to being proven otherwise.
  6. 4th option, it looks like the ones in red are today's winner
  7. Any one who buys a 260/280 needs there head examined. Why spend that kind of money for a underperforming card?
  8. stick with the 9800gx2 its really cheap now and it will still improve as sli improves u can improve performance buy adding another 9800gx2 when the price drops even more. also i noticed when u overclock the card u gain alot of performance because u overclock both the cards in it.
wait for the ati cards because there gonna be good price/performance, but dont expect it to beat a gtx 280 i highly doubt it.
  9. i doubt even the 4870X2 will beat the GTX 280 in real game not those 3dmark junk.

Well, we shall see about that. Because looking at todays benchies, GTX280/260 arent a option. They are for enthusiasts low on enthusiasm and high on cash. Even if i had the money i wouldnt waste it on any of this GPUs. For now.
  11. SLI 8800GTS 512MB is far better bang for buck than any of those.
  12. As true as that might be...shut up lol....naw just a high end chart:P.

Thats why I have the option of stay as you are:P
  13. OK, SLI 8800GT 512MB for $270 AR. Seems to hang with the GTX 280 in Anand's review. :)

But, if I must go for the overpriced options, ;) ..... Paying $100+ more for equal or less performance at 19x12 and below, and putting up with the noise of the GTX280, make the 9800GX2 a better buy IMO.
  14. Thats all I wanted to hear:D
  15. I still run a single 8800gtx so a 260 or 280 would be a nice boost for me.But i'll just sit tight and see what Ati has up there sleeve.

apparantly the bench i seen and heard the HD4850 is just beating the 9800GTX but the GTX 260 is being more the just beating the 9800GTX. so HD4850 will be below GTX 280. and about the higher clock HD4870? it will be just above and way under the GTX 280 obviously by looking at the benchmark.

also Nvidia traditionally know and prove again they have better AA/AF performance then AMD cards. and the new CSAA will give a much better IQ but also less fps drop.
  17. CSAA does not offer increased IQ, in fact, it is less IQ than regular AA, or MSAA, or ATIs regular AA (as if IQ could be measured!)
  18. is it barthpiggie? IQ in AA can be measure when take lines and object in a high resolution picture and look for blurriness, lost of detail.
  19. My money is on ATI Radeon 4870x2 GDDR5 1 gig card, oooraaah.
