You need to connect a wired mouse to the PC then install drivers for the wireless mouse. Make sure that the infrared connector for the mouse is within view of the wireless mouse.

The drivers must be compatible for your OS. Logtech Setpoint is required for a Logitech mouse, other brands also have their own interface for wireless mouse.
