I honestly think that the E8500 is a bit of a waste. The E8400 will give you VERY near the same performance, and it is ~70 bucks cheaper. With that cooler, you should be able to get 4 GHz out of an E8400 - easily.

I don't like the 9800 GTX for the price either. I would get an EVGA 8800 GTS 512 (the performance difference is negligible), then use their step-up program to grab a GT2xx when they come out.

The TR2 is a bit of a weak PSU. Try for a Corsair 550 VX/650 TX for your setup.

Your power supply may be a little weak for your setup... I have a 550W with a lesser setup and it is starved for juice at times... maybe upgrade to 650 - 700W.

Cpt Deadboots makes some excellent suggestions. I'd also ditch the sound card and see how well the onboard sound is. You can always add one later if it's not good enough.

That power supply has only 18 amps on the 12v rails. Enough for a socket 478. You need something with 24 amps on the 12v rails at least. Corsair 550 VX is good.

You don't have an OS or a monitor listed. That alone is 400 dollars on my system build.

Which system are you referring to? My updated one or Castagnolac's?

Yours is less because of the combo deal you got on the case/motherboard/psu and the fact that you didn't get a monitor or OS.
