I was a bit undecided about the raptors, but by the time I get this next month, the 300 gig velociraptors should be out, and the 150 gig raptors should go down in price a bit.

Why the x38 over the p35? I have no plan to use crossfire.

1) Official FSB1600 support for better overclocking
2) Full PCI-E 2.0 support- does not matter now- will in the future
3) Full 45nm support- moreso than P35.

The raptors are not that much faster for most operations. Two of them in a RAID will not offer you the amazing speed increase you think you are going to get.

While pcie 2.0 is "futureproof", by the time I will need it I think socket 775 will be irrelevant and Ill be saving up for a PC with a nehalem processor. :)

Fair enough. :) After looking into it I may actually go with the P5E afterall. Been hearing that it is a good mobo, but that all the x38s are still a little buggy 'cause they are relatively new.
