Updated CPU drivers

I have a AMD Athlon (TM) 64x2 Dual Core Processor 4600+. I was running Driver agent this morning that indicates that there is a later driver for this processor. And also the device manager says the provided driver is from Microsoft, Ver 5.1.2600.0.

My question is wouldn't the mobo mfr provide a better driver then Microsoft?

Not being a techy, but my guess is that I should not be getting the updated CPU driver from Microsoft (the generic provider). Anyone got any advice on updating processor drivers?

there is an amd dual core optimizer available check the amd site,the microshaft [ver 5.1.2600.0 is the build # of windoze and components,,or xp build 2600] one that shows up is probably the system default that the os needs to get you up and running??......:>)
