these are 2 i have in mind what would be better if i go with external (was also thinkin if i get an external it wouldnt take away from my power supply because it is powered by a wall outlet)

I suggest you buy an external enclosure and a hard disk.
This way both options are available.
Get an enclosure with eSATA and USB interfaces.
Choose a SATA drive or use one that you have.
Internal hard drives are faster than external ones.
You could network the computer for fast transfers.

Ii would go wth evongugg's option, he's link to the eSATA case for $35 add a WD 640gb drive for $70 at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Often the external drives only have a 1 year warranty, but you get 3 years by getting it as a seperate unit.
