Total noob question here, but I need to ask it for piece of mind. I am doing my first build ever and want to do it the best way possible.

The question is about how to connect the power to the different computer pieces. Like for example: I just bought the Corsair 750watt PSU. I have an optical drive and HD to connect. I could have both running on the same power cable line. I have 2 lines that each have 4 SATA power connections (I think is what you call them, they connect next to where the SATAs connect on the components). I could also have my 2 devices connected on different power cords. Is there any benefit to doing this? Also, should I use the connections closer to the power supply or further down the cord? Obviously, I am not going to even get close to using them all up.

To further complicate things, I am wondering how to best give my case fans power. I bought the Antec 900 case and each of the 4 fans has a power connector that has both male and female 4 pin connections. Should I connect these together and only use one 4 pin area on the power supply, or should I give each one its own individual connection on the power supply lines?

Advantages and disadvantages? :bounce:
