Just wanted some on opinion on this. Is upgrading to the 9800 gtx from the 8800 gt oc worth it? Its about a hundred dollar difference... which isn't bad.

Yes.

But if you are gaming at resolutions of 1280X1024 then no.
If you are gaming above that resolution then YES.

I think it is... 9800GTX out performs an 8800 Ultra.

No, 9800gtx perform only about 10% better than 8800gt. Definately not worth an upgrade. 8800gt use g92 core with 112 stream processors, on 256bit bus with 512mb ram. 8800gts/9800gtx use g92 core with 128 stream processors, on 256bit bus with 512mb ram. The performance difference will be hardly noticable, at any resolution.

9800gtx perform the same as 8800gts:

9800gtx is a slightly factory overclocked version of 8800gts. It's faster than 8800gt, but not by much. When both overclocked to the limits, g92 8800gts and 9800gtx perform the same as ultra, but still can't outperform it.

def. a waste of money....i would just wait and get a 4870 or whatever the new ati one is....everything under that is like all the same....the 9-series was a total bs....not worth it at all over the 8800gt/gts.

8800gt/gts is still best bang for buck....but it looks like 4850 (or maybe the 4870 if performance is amazing vs. price) will take over that...if benches are real.

if u dont want to spend $200+ for a new card...keep the 8800gt....i'm keeping mine until game settings cant be maxed out and fps is noticeably low.
