Just finished new build Q9450

Alright so I just finished up the last of the windows updates and things are up and running. Break down of my new rig:

Q9450 $299 microcenter
Xigamtec HDTS1283 $37 newegg
Arctic Silver 5 $5
Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6 $299
Corsair 4-4-4-12 Dominator $79 after rebate
PCP&C 610 silencer $90 after rebate
NZXT Apollo Orange $60 after rebate
Seagate 500gb 7200.10 SATA 3.0GB/S (temp drive until velociraptor) $80
Carry over EVGA 7900GT KO
Carry over LG DVD burner + Lightscribe

Total: $952 before new video card, optical, OS(still running xp home *gag*)

Haven't benchmarked anything yet so I'll get some stuff up in a bit. Had to stress test the system because the mobo defaulted to 1.8V for the ram and 5-5-5-18 timings. Just got everything all together. I'll post up in a bit once things are settled down.

Comments? Questions?

Oh and I hate the push-pin mounting of the heat sink!!!

it sounds like bull, where the hell you got that Q9450? XD
everywhere is out of stock or at above 340 USD price

    *edit*
    holy ****.. just 299 in microcenter x_X
  3. Planning on upgrading video card in another month or so. Once the new ATI and Nvidia cards come out and I see the benches, if neither one is worth it, at least current cards should drop in price.

tamalero: www.microcenter.com has it for $299. Call my local store, they have around 30 in-stock (as of yesterday) 408-919-5400 =p. My local fry's also had a couple in-stock (at $339) and they were unwilling to price match so I went to microcenter for the CPU and fry's for the mobo.
  4. For what it's worth, I also picked up a $299 q9450 from microcenter.
  5. V-Raptor is now at Newegg for $299.
  6. Huh, just checked yesterday and couldn't find the velociraptor on newegg. Oh well, I'm not made of money and will have to wait a little bit before getting it. I need a video card more than I do the hard drive. Also have to add in vista 64 bit ultimate with the drive so that I can use the full 4gb of ram I have.

I'll be adding some pictures of my new setup in a day or two when I get a chance.
  7. welcome to the Q9450 family :) we love you. haha
  8. oh btw, what are your temps with your Q9450, im just curious because one of my friend whom i just built a system for using the Q9450, used CoreTemp and his temperatures were in the high 40's ...47-49C. could you get CoreTemp and post a reply? thanks! :)
  9. I'll have a chance to do it a little bit later. Bios has been reporting low 30s for temps, but I know how accurate those can be especially with no load and such. I'll let you know in a few hours what I come up with.
  10. Just ran CoreTemp and im sitting on Core 0 46 Core 1 42 Core 2 44 Core 3 45

Now I remember reading somewhere that these temps need to be adjusted or something like that? I'm not sure on what that was talking about. Just running the program, thats the temps I'm getting. Speedfan says temp is much lower High 30s for all cores.
  11. Just installed RealTemp 2.5 and im getting a little lower readings cores range from 32c - 37c under little to no load. Don't know if that helps or not.
  12. yea...i read that somewhere too...there were a few threads in the forum with the Q9450 and its strange high temperature readings...interesting though. realtemp has the guide on how to i guess, adjust and recalibrate the temps.

    http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/docs.php

thanks for the info though :) im pretty sure the real temps on your Q9450 and my friends are much lower than what is being shown by those programs. enjoy your Q9450, i know i am mines :D
