I got a virus back in April and I had my boyfriends cousin fix my Acer laptop for me he had to wipe everything out and now my Cd/DVDRW wont read anything and wont write disc. help please the model of my laptop is Acer Windows Vista Extensa 4620

Is it recognized in the bios?
Is power and data connected to it.
Upgrade the firmware if you can see the drive in Windows.

Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

Where is the Bios?
It should be connected I got the April Fools day virus and had my boyfriend take it to his cousin to get it fixed, I have tried to upgrade it; it says its up to date.
I went to the driver manager and looked under DVD/CD and it only has 1 listing under that.

I got it fixed I took my laptop back off and took the cd drive out and put it back in and now it is working
