Hello,
I reciently followed the instructions from Microsoft Fix-it to delete two files from my registry and reboot to allow windows update to run and update properly. My computer starts to boot and then a message "Configuring updates: Stage 3 of 3-0% complete. Do not turn off your machine". The machine waits for a few minutes withis message then times out and tries to reboot. How do I get it to boot up?

You did create a restore point before messing with the registry, hopefully.
Try booting into safe mode and restore to that restore point, or one earlier.
