Hi, I have an Asus Formula Rampage board. I also have a q6600 and 2x 2gb ocz ddr2-800 ram. I have had a few motherboards in the past, and with all of them I have been able to run this cpu at 3.2
However, I cannot overclock on this board. I can change the mem speeds, those work. But the board wont accept cpu fsb settings. When I save and exit, the pc just turns off, and a few seconds later turns on with default settings (except them mem, that is always fine).
I can drop the multiplyer down, and that works just fine - but if i try set the fsb it will just shut down when I save and exit. But, it also seems to keep the settings I set, just wont use them. Am I doing something wrong?
Also, the CPU auto level up feature that they provide, while I can select a processor, it shuts down just the same.
The Asus RF tends to ignore OC settings when it doesn't like the BIOS settings.
Might be worth clearing your CMOS to make sure that you're back to square 1 then try again. My PC isn't a million miles away from yours on spec. Details of my OC are below. Feel free to use them as a guide (change the RAM to suit your system).
Overclock to 3.4GHz - Under the Extreme Tweaker Menu in BIOS

Hi Guys, thanks for the reply. Will try this tonight. My ram can overclock very well on the board. But will clear the CMOS and try it again. My RAM can run at 2.2V
+1 to flashing bios. If the ram settings are being saved but the cpu settings aren't (correct?) then the problem is probably a bios issue (defenatally not a CMOS battery issue or the like).
Clearing the CMOS could fix it, but if it doesn't try flashing the bios. If its still not working then you may have gotten a faulty board.
