I have a very strange problem...I have a DVD -/+ RW drive in my work laptop (Dell) that will read DVDs written by me (or others) and CDs (factory pressed or otherwise) just fine. It also writes to DVD or CD without any problem. It will not, however, read a factory pressed DVD. Instead, the drive just hangs and locks up explorer until I eject the disc. This problem occurs on my co-workers computer's laptop as well but not on another's desktop. I figure it must a setting somewhere b/c the likelihood of both our drives going bad simultaneously seems pretty remote. Not really sure how long the problem has been present as we don't tend to read from pressed media with much frequency. Any takers? And thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forums!

Try updating the firmware.
I think it's a bad drive or maybe dirty inside.

Thanks for the welcome.

I will try updating the firmware. I'm not convinced it is a bad drive b/c like I said, it is the same problem on 2 different computers and 2 different drives.
