Hello guys i'm new around here.
I have a question and maybe you can help me.
Soon i will get my 8800GTS 512Mb and i will need a new PSU.
My specs are:
CPU AMD X2 5000+
2x1Gb DDR2 667Mhz
120Gb Sata2 HDD
8800GTS G92 (will come)
2x120Mm fans
1xDVD-RW
1xDVD/CD
every thing is running stock and i don't plan to OC my rig.
I have 2 options by now
1.http://www.ncix.com/products/index [...] omoid=1051
2.http://www.directcanada.com/produc [...] OLERMASTER
i'm looking to spend around 40-45$ for a PSU and it has to been from Canada.
Thanks in advance :bounce:

The Seasonic will do.

When it comes to PSU quality, Seasonic is one of the most respected names, while CoolerMaster is definitely not.

The Seasonic you found has 17A+17A on the 12V rails, combined 30A.

A system with an 8800GTS 512MB needs at least 28A. You're cutting it close, but it should work, since you're not overclocking or adding lots of disks.

if those were the choices, SeaSonic.

but if you have a piggy jar somewhere please break it and dont sell yourself short on a PSU. get one that can let you upgrade some more from this config in the future.

my pick from NCIX in that order:

CMPSU-650TX Corsair TX650W 650W $90
CMPSU-550VX Corsair VX550W 550W $75
EA650 Antec Earthwatts 650W $89
SST-ST50F Silverstone Strider ST50F 500W $70
RP-650-PCAR Coolermaster Extreme Power 650W $77

Here's a review of the coolermaster PSU from your first post
http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/550
As it says one of the problems that the Coolermasters have is 2 different manufacturers, different quality levels and not running up to their labeled power.
The closest to your budget and is a quality unit is the seasonic. Any of the PSUs recommended by gaiden would be an excellent choice.

Just so you know, you won't pay PST if you live in Ontario and buy from ncix.

I still vote for the Seasonic :)

the OCZ Steathstream is a decent PSU, not up to the seasonic, corsair, PC Power and Cooling or Earthwatts quality, but not down to the Coolmax quality. Here's a HardwareCanucks review of the steathstream 600w, both are FSP built units.

Me too, voting for the Seasonic.

You'll probably find this hard to believe, but the Seasonic 400W is actually stronger than the OCZ 500W. :) The Seasonic offers 30A, you need 28A, and the OCZ offers 27.5A (330W/12V).

All right, you're lucky.

OCZ StealhthXstream 600W, with promoid and rebate it's only $50.

I think you can trust OCZ to send the rebate checks, but I only sent one in the past 2 years (for exactly this PSU, btw) and I got it after 3 months.

Combined this PSU offers about 35A, which gives you room for overclocking or more disks.
