Ok, so I built a new system with the following components:

Motherboard: Asus Maximus Extreme (BIOS updated to 1007)
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 8400 3.16 GHz
Memory: Corsair XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333
Video: EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX SSC 512 MB
Harddrive: Seagate Barracuda 250GB 7200 RPM
Audio: Sound Blaster Audigy SE
Power Supply: Thermaltake W0116RU 750W
OS: Microsoft Vista 64-Bit SP1 (fully updated)

Nothing is overclocked besides the video card which was clocked and verified by EVGA. All BIOS settings are at their default values.

My problem is that I have random freeze-ups that force me to reset the system. The freeze-ups have occurred while in Vista, Vista Safe Mode, and I believe the freeze-up I had while the Asus EZ-Flash utility was "checking" the BIOS file was the same issue. Luckily I was able to successfully flash after resetting.

I'm not sure where to start - any suggestions would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Brief update: I've had the longest running time now since I went into the BIOS and decreased the memory speed to 800 MHz from 1333 MHz (the default). Both the motherboard and memory are supposed to run at that speed... I'll see if the system continues to stay up.
