Stock fan and heatsink for the CPU, and it idles at 60 C. When I play cs:s on all settings high except for vsync ( i want higher fps rofl) then the game freezes and moves every 30 seconds, and i see the cpu temp about 96C. I have to spend 1 minute using windows task manager to stop the process of hl2. exe, which takes awhile, and stop the process of steam.exe, so that i can cool down the cpu. When it goes back down to 60c, everything is fine again.
The first few seconds of gaming are awesome, 350 fps and stuff. Then i get FU**ed.
Is there something wrong with my stock heatsink and fan? what about cpu? maybe something with my setup? Please help me here I cant play any game except for some runescape, and maybe counter-strike 1.6....
My video card is fine, i oc'ed the fan to 75% and i get 40c under idle and around 48-54c under load. (GPU)
Make sure that the pins have went all the way through. I suggest you disconnect the mobo from the case, lift it up, and look on the back. Then push the pins all the way in with the mobo in your hands so you can support it. You'll need to push rather hard to get them to go all the way.
Am I supposed to unscrew the mobo, pull everything out, and reinstall everything again? if so, then I'll do it. (for some reason it cant fit without getting the mobo out... i might get a better fan.
The game does not really freeze. It moves VERY slow. 96C on cpu at that time, and 40C on GPU for 9800gtx. not overclocked, same 1688 shader, 688 core, 2200/1100 memory...

Since it's moving very slow, the CPU must be throttling to be able to continue, other then that, if it can't stay cool it will shut down eventually from thermal trip.
The best way is to take the MB out so you can see the backside of the MB when you install the HSF, making sure the pins are all the way through. There is a good chance that one of the 4 isn't on.
You can take the MB out, but don't take the HSF off, untill you inspect it first. That way you can see if one of the pins are not all the way in.
Edit:
Should look like:

Yes, you see the black one in between the white ones? Make sure that it is all the way down (or up, depending on how you look at it). The black and the white have to be on the same level. They have to be even.
WBW, not WbW, if you can understand that.
