overclocking cpu

is it even worth overclocking a quad core cpu, many boast about doing so, but many programs and apps can not even take advantage of multithreading yet! or is it just to increase clock speeds for gaming purposes?

Its to increase the clock speed to get an overall performance boost, not just gaming. Yes games do like a faster CPU but a lot of other programs will run faster with a higher clocked CPU.

first oc will speed up the first core and your system will be more repsonisve
this can be compared to a car

take any car from gm that comes with a 4 banger and a 6 cylinder, the word used is more reponsive, that means at a broader rpm range the car speeds up

same with a computer

wrong - you will use 4 core if you multitask the os will spread out the load

umm... dragonsprayer, it could be just me, but I cannot understand a word you just said
generally higher clockspeed means faster performance in any applications, if there are no other factors, and a q9550 can probably go quite high
